چکیده

New developments based on nanotechnology have to guarantee safe products and processes to be accepted by society. The Polyfire project will develop and scale-up techniques for processing halogen-free, fire-retardant nanocomposite materials and coatings based on unsaturated polyester resins and organoclays. The project includes a work package that will assess the Health and Environmental impacts derived from the manipulation of nanoparticles. This work package includes the following tasks: (1) Identification of Health and Environment Impacts derived from the processes, (2) Experimentation to study specific Nanoparticle Emissions, (3) Development of a Risk Management Methodology for the process, and (4) A Comparison of the Health and Environmental Impact of New and Existing Materials. To date, potential exposure scenarios to nanomaterials have been identified through the development of a Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) of the new production processes. In the next step, these scenarios will be studied and simulated to evaluate potential emissions of nanomaterials. Polyfire is a collaborative European project, funded by the European Commission 7 th Framework Programme (Grant Agreement No 229220). It features 11 partners from 5 countries (5 SMEs, 3 research institutes, 2 large companies, 1 association) and runs for three years (1st September 2009 – 31st August 2012). This project is an example of an industrial research development which aims to introduce to the market new products promoting the safe use of nanomaterials.

An ex ante control chart for project monitoring using earned duration management observations

In the past few years, there has been an increasing interest in developing project control systems. The primary purpose of such systems is to indicate whether the actual performance is consistent with the baseline and to produce a signal in the case of non-compliance. Recently, researchers have shown an increased interest in monitoring project’s performance indicators, by plotting them on the S...

System Engineering Implementation Process for Super-Systems

System engineering is one of the most powerful tools for comprehensive project management and control. This tool emphasized the life cycle of the projects, manages every single activity and helps manage the main elements of the project through a set of management and engineering processes. The goal of the current study is to use a system engineering approach in design phase in order or to meet ...

Self-Starting Control Chart and Post Signal Diagnostics for Monitoring Project Earned Value Management Indices

Earned value management (EVM) is a well-known approach in a project control system which uses some indices to track schedule and cost performance of a project. In this paper, a new statistical framework based on self-starting monitoring and change point estimation is proposed to monitor correlated EVM indices which are usually auto-correlated over time and non-normally distributed. Also, a new ...

A Conceptual Methodology for Transportation Projects Selection

Selection of appropriate infrastructure transportation projects such as highways, plays an important role in promotion of transportation systems. Usually in evaluation of transportation projects, because of lack of information or due to long time and high expenditures needed for gathering information, different effective factors are ignored. Thus, in this research, regarding multi criteria na...

An Exact Algorithm for the Mode Identity Project Scheduling Problem

In this paper we consider the non-preemptive variant of a multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem (MRCPSP) with mode identity, in which a set of project activities is partitioned into disjoint subsets while all activities forming one subset have to be processed in the same mode. We present a depth-first branch and bound algorithm for the resource constrained project schedulin...
